Housing Benefits & Help

Please be advised that some landlord’s take housing benefit and some landlord do not. It is not always down to the landlord as some mortgages and insurance companies will not allow them to.

Just because you are housing benefit does not mean that you are a problem tenant, which is what some people believe. There are many different reasons why you may be claiming benefit and our aim is to try to help and support you in finding a property to live in and call home.

Information and advice on local NHS services for patients, their families and carers. Support in resolving questions or concerns about NHS treatment and in using the NHS complaints procedure. Referrals to Independent Complaints Advocacy Services (ICAS). Signposting to other local or national support agencies. A network of PALS covers all NHS and Primary Care Trusts.

Julian House

Julian House is the leading provider of services to single homeless men and women in Bath & North East Somerset and West Wiltshire. Although Julian House is not a large organisation the challenge that faces it is significant. Providing a bed is the relatively easy part of its work. Much more difficult is the task of identifying why its clients are in this situation and then finding the right solutions.

Woodspring Deposit Guarantee Board

The Woodspring Deposit Guarantee Board is a Charity for housing homeless people in North Somerset by guaranteeing a deposit to enable them to rent accommodation. Since its beginning in 1996, it has housed thousands of people and currently has over 1300 people accommodated, half of them young people who fall outside of the responsibility of statutory bodies. It operates throughout North Somerset and so is able to help local people. It runs twice weekly drop-in surgeries for advice on housing and associated matters and gives support to landlords. It pays particular attention to the plight of Under 25 year olds and those who leave care.
